My Comprehensive School Counseling Program addresses Academic, Emotional/Behavioral, and Career areas of Education through four main methods: Guidance Curriculum, Programming and Activities, Collaboration, and Responsive Services.
Each nine weeks, I will visit the classrooms for guidance sessions. Classroom Guidance Session topics will include reinforcing and promoting our school-wide character education traits (see these monthly traits on the Character Education Page) and exploring various career options for the students. Students will use their basic academic skills, and technology will be incorporated into every classroom guidance session. Additionally, I am responsible for testing in certain circumstances as directed by the Administration. As part of the integrated curriculum approach, a Vocabulary Word-of-the-Week, Monthly Spotlight Career Clusters and Monthly Spotlight College Clusters will be provided on this web site and announced school-wide.
I also coordinate student assemblies and programs throughout the year. Annual assemblies and programs include the Character Education Monthly Celebration, Anti-Bully Assembly, Red Ribbon Week, Cheers for Careers Week, Family Literacy Night and Multicultural Week. I will coordinate our Junior Achievement Program school-wide. Frequently, I will solicit parent volunteers for events/programs through this web site, or I may send home notes. Please help out in any way you can.
I work with the Administration, other teachers and staff members, as well as many district-level or business representatives along with utilizing community resources to provide the best quality education for our students, your children.
Responsive services may include individual/small group counseling (per parental permission or request) for specific concerns, crisis/emergency counseling, or special referrals. If your child or family has a unique need or concern, please do not hesitate to contact me privately at the school, by email or through a note sent to me by your child.
